SP Stop Coupon Leaks FAQs
1. What does SP Stop Coupon Leaks do?
SP Stop Coupon Leaks helps you find discount codes that may have been shared outside your intended channels and detect when coupon browser extensions try to use your codes.
It includes two main tools:
- Leak Scanner finds your codes on supported coupon sites.
- Coupon Blocker detects coupon injection attempts while customers shop and records what happens.
2. What is the difference between Leak Scanner and Coupon Blocker?
They protect your coupons in different ways.
Leak Scanner checks whether your discount codes appear on supported coupon sites. Coupon Blocker monitors coupon extension activity on your store and records attempts to use your codes.
The two tools work independently, so a code can be detected by Coupon Blocker even if Leak Scanner has never found it on a coupon site.
3. How often does Leak Scanner check my coupons?
You can choose how often Leak Scanner runs:
- Manual: Scan only when you start one.
- Every 24 hours: Scan once a day.
- Every 6 hours: Scan several times a day for more frequent monitoring.
You can change the scan frequency in Settings > Leak Scanner.
4. Why is a coupon marked as High risk?
A leaking coupon is marked High risk when it meets at least one of these conditions:
- 40% discount or more
- $75 discount or more
- 300+ uses within 30 days
Codes you’ve intentionally excluded aren’t marked High risk.
5. What does “Injected” mean?
Injected means Coupon Blocker detected an attempt involving that coupon code.
It does not automatically mean the coupon was successfully applied. Check the order outcome in Coupon Blocker to see what happened.
6. What is the difference between Payout only and Full Block?
Payout only records detected coupon injection attempts without trying to stop the coupon from being applied. This gives you data you can use when reviewing affiliate payouts.
Full Block attempts to stop detected coupon extensions from applying your discount codes.
Blocking may not be possible in every shopping or checkout flow, so always check the recorded outcome.
7. What do Applied, Blocked, and Couldn’t block mean?
These outcomes tell you what happened after an attempt was detected:
- Applied: The coupon was applied and the order was completed with it.
- Blocked: The app detected the attempt and prevented the coupon from remaining applied.
- Couldn’t block: The attempt was detected, but the app couldn’t prevent the coupon from being applied.
- Not confirmed: Activity was detected, but the final outcome couldn’t be confirmed.
8. Can I exclude coupons that are intentionally public?
Yes. If you intentionally share a coupon publicly, such as a welcome or partner code, you can add it to your exclusion list.
Excluded codes won’t be flagged as High risk, helping you focus on codes that may actually need attention.
9. What happens when I expire a leaked coupon?
SP Stop Coupon Leaks does not delete the coupon.
Expiring a coupon sets its end date in Shopify so it can no longer be used. If you expire a code by mistake, you can open it in Shopify Admin and update it again.
10. Does SP Stop Coupon Leaks detect every coupon leak and browser extension?
No. The app can only detect activity within the sources and shopping flows it currently monitors.
For example, Leak Scanner may not find codes shared privately or on unsupported coupon sites. Coupon Blocker may also be unable to identify or block certain coupon usage, such as manual code entry or some checkout flows.
For this reason, no result doesn’t always mean that a coupon has never been shared or used elsewhere.
