1. Get started with SP Checkout Rules
Welcome to SP Checkout Rules!
SP Checkout Rules helps you control what happens during checkout based on conditions you set.
For example, you can hide Cash on Delivery for heavy orders, offer free shipping when an order reaches a certain amount, prevent checkout when an address is incomplete, or show important messages to selected customers.
Instead of using the same checkout experience for every order, you can create rules that automatically respond to the customer, cart, order, or delivery details.
The app currently focuses on three main goals: reducing problematic orders, protecting margins, and helping merchants communicate requirements or important information during checkout.
1.1. What the app does
With SP Checkout Rules, you can:
- Hide, rename, or reorder payment methods
- Hide, rename, or reorder shipping methods
- Offer percentage or fixed shipping discounts
- Display conditional messages at checkout
- Stop checkout when an order does not meet your requirements
- Add fees and restrictions to manual payment methods
- Block known high-risk customers
- Require customers to accept your terms and conditions
1.2. How checkout rules work
Most controls in the app follow a simple structure:
Conditions → Action
For example:
If the order weighs more than 2 kg → Hide Cash on Delivery.
Or:
If the cart subtotal is over $100 → Apply free shipping.
Each rule contains three sections:
General controls the rule name, status, priority, and schedule.
Conditions determines which customers or orders the rule applies to.
Action determines what happens at checkout when the conditions are met.
1.3. Dashboard overview
The Home page gives you a quick view of your checkout setup.
Restrictions overview
You can see how many rules you have for:
- All rules
- Payment methods
- Shipping methods
- Checkout banners
- Validation
- Shipping discounts
Each category shows the number of active rules compared with the total number of rules.
Get started checklist
When you first use the app, you’ll see two setup steps:
1. Create your first restriction rule
Click Add rule to create your first checkout rule.
2. Enable the app
Turn on App status so your active rules can run at checkout.
If you disable the app, your existing rules stay saved, but they stop applying at checkout. You can still create and edit rules while the app is disabled.
