12. SP Checkout Rules FAQs
1. What happens if I disable SP Checkout Rules?
When the app is disabled, your checkout rules stop applying to your store. Your existing rules and configurations remain saved, so you can continue editing them and enable the app again when you’re ready.
2. Can I create multiple checkout rules?
Yes. You can create multiple rules for payment methods, shipping methods, shipping discounts, checkout banners, and checkout validation.
If multiple rules affect the same payment or shipping method, Priority determines which rule takes precedence. A lower priority number has higher priority.
3. Can one rule have multiple conditions?
Yes. You can add multiple conditions and choose how they work together:
- ALL - every condition must be met.
- ANY - at least one condition must be met.
For example, you could hide COD only when the order is over a certain weight and the customer is located in a specific country.
If you select conditional mode but don’t add any conditions, the rule behaves the same as Always.
4. Can I hide, rename, and reorder payment or shipping methods in the same rule?
Yes. A single Payment method or Shipping method rule can hide, rename, and reorder methods.
However, once a method is hidden by that rule, it can’t also be renamed or reordered because customers will no longer see it.
5. What happens if a rule hides all payment or shipping methods?
The app is designed to prevent a rule from leaving checkout without any available payment or shipping methods.
You’ll see a warning when configuring a rule that hides all methods. If applying the rule at checkout would leave no methods available, the entire rule for that step is skipped.
6. Can multiple shipping discounts apply at the same time?
No. Shipping discount rules don’t stack with each other.
If multiple shipping discount rules are eligible, the rule with the lowest priority number takes precedence.
For example, if Rule A has priority 1 and Rule B has priority 5, Rule A takes precedence.
7. Can I control Cash on Delivery (COD) with the app?
Yes. COD is treated as a manual payment method.
You can use Payment method rules to control when COD is shown. You can also manage COD under Manual payments to configure supported restrictions and surcharge settings.
The COD method must exist in your Shopify store and its name must match the method configured in the app.
8. Can I block specific customers from checking out?
Yes. Blocklist lets you create Include and Exclude entries using supported information such as email addresses, email domains, phone numbers, countries, IP addresses, and customer tags.
If the same buyer matches both an Include and Exclude entry, Include takes priority.
Some information has limitations. For example, IP addresses can’t be used to block a buyer directly at checkout, while customer tags can only be checked at checkout for signed-in customers.
9. Can I require customers to accept my Terms and Conditions?
Yes. Terms Box lets you display an agreement checkbox and configure it as Required or Optional.
You can customize the agreement text, Terms and Conditions link, error message, placement, text size, colors, and supported language content.
The current specification also notes that accelerated checkout options such as Buy Now or Shop Pay may bypass a cart-page checkbox. Therefore, I wouldn’t claim that Terms Box alone can guarantee blocking every checkout until the Validation integration is technically confirmed.
10. Why isn’t my rule working at checkout?
Check these settings first:
- Make sure App status is enabled.
- Make sure the rule is Active.
- Check the rule’s start/end date, time, and weekdays.
- Check whether the customer matches Applies to.
- Make sure the checkout matches the rule conditions.
- If multiple rules affect the same method, check their Priority.
A rule only runs when the app is enabled, the rule is active, its schedule matches, its target customer matches, and its conditions are satisfied.
