What is chart priority? How to optimize it?

What is chart priority?

Chart priority determines which size chart will be displayed when multiple charts are assigned to the same product or position. The rule is simple:

  • Higher numbers = higher priority.
  • If two or more size charts overlap, the one with the highest priority number will be shown.

For example:

  • Chart A (Priority = 1)
  • Chart B (Priority = 5)

=> Chart B will display, because it has the higher priority.

How to optimize chart priority

1. Assign clear rules for overlapping charts

  • Use chart priority when a product might belong to multiple collections, tags, or condition groups.
  • Always decide which chart is the most accurate and give it the highest priority.

2. Use priority numbers consistently

  • Start with a base number (e.g., 0) for general charts.
  • Use higher values (5, 10, 20…) for specific charts to make it easy to scale later.

3. Keep general vs. specific in mind

  • General size chart (applies to all T-shirts) → lower priority.
  • Specific size chart (applies to Summer Collection T-shirts) → higher priority.

4. Test in storefront

  • After adjusting priorities, preview product pages to ensure the correct chart appears.
