How to fix “400 Session Invalid” when connecting to Instagram

When attempting to connect your Instagram account, you might encounter a “400 Session Invalid” error. This is a known issue originating from Instagram’s website. It typically occurs because Instagram retains an expired session in your account, often due to no interaction with the app for 90 days.

Unfortunately, since this problem is not related to our app, we cannot directly fix it. However, many users have successfully resolved this by refreshing their Instagram session using the following workarounds:

To resolve this:

1. Clear browser data:

  • Delete cookies and cache. (Right-click > Inspect > Application > Storage > Click “Clear site data”).
  • Try connecting in incognito/private Browse mode.

2. Try alternative access methods:

  • Use a different device (e.g., a mobile device instead of a desktop, or vice versa).
  • Switch to another browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari).

3. Network solutions:

  • Connect through a different network or IP address.
  • Try using mobile data instead of Wi-Fi (or vice versa).

4. Account refresh:

  • Log out of Instagram completely.
  • Close your browser/app.
  • Log back into Instagram.
  • Attempt to connect again.

5. Review your future activity on meta technologies:

  • Check the Mageplaza Instagram feed status: Access Instagram.com > Settings > Website permissions > Apps and websites:
    • If the Mageplaza Social Feed-IG is listed under “Active”: Click “Remove” next to the app, then return to our app and “Reconnect” your account.
    • If the Mageplaza Social Feed-IG is listed under “Expired”: You’ll need to clear your account’s activity by navigating to Meta settings > Your information and permissions -> Your activity off Meta technologies.
      • Under “Clear previous activity”, click the “Clear” button.
      • Under “Manage future activity”, select the “Disconnect” future activity option > Continue > Disconnect future activity. Then, return and re-select the “Connect future activity” option.

Important Note: Performing this step (Option 5) may affect the functionality of other apps connected to your Meta account. If all else fails, wait approximately one hour, then try connecting again using incognito/private Browse mode.
