Why does the Customers page show “Permission required”?

The Customers page shows each customer’s name and email, which the app reads from Shopify each time you open the page. Shopify protects this customer data and only shares it with apps it has approved for that access.

What “Permission required” means

When a row shows Permission required, the app hasn’t been approved by Shopify to read customer names and emails yet. A banner on the page explains this and links to more details.

Your shoppers’ wishlists still work as normal:

  • Customers can still save items and see their wishlist on your store.
  • The Items saved and Last active columns still show for each customer.
  • You can still open a customer to see what they’ve saved.

Only the name and email are hidden until access is approved.

Other statuses you may see

  • Name withheld by Shopify: Shopify doesn’t share this specific customer’s details with apps.
  • Customer no longer exists: the customer was deleted from your store.

Does the app store my customers’ personal data?

No. The app only stores a customer ID for each wishlist. It doesn’t store names, emails, or addresses. Names and emails are read from Shopify only when you open the Customers page.
